Viikonlopun havaintoja

English text is the bottom of Finnish text.

Mustarastaitahan on talvehtinut tällä alueella. Vantaanjoessa ui telkkäpareja.

Tylli/Ringed plover

Viikin peloilla näimme töyhtöhyyppien, rastaiden ja kottaraisten joukossa kapustarinnan (Pluvialis apricaria).

Kapustarinta/European Golden plover

Myös hemppoja havaitsimme.

Hemppo/Common linnet

Meren rannalla oli pari tylliä ja punajalkaviklo.

Punajalkaviklo/Common redshank

Muutoin ei vielä juuri kahlaajia näkynyt. Valkoposkihanhien ja kanadanhanhien joukossa yhä on merihanhia. Tavejakin havaittiin.

Nowadays, when I go birding, I choose if I take with me camera or binocular. Both of them I don’t take with me, because it is so hard walk with both of them. Last weekend I kept my camera with me, because I was birding with my friend and she had a binocular with her.

In the region of  nearby my home we saw a pair of Lesser Spotted Woodpecker. There was a lot of local birds like European Goldfinch, Greenfinch and the other wintered birds. The White Wagtails and Common Chaffinches have come some time ago. Also the thrushes have come about couple weeks ago: Redwings, Song Thrushes and Fieldfares. The blackbirds have overwintered here. Of course there were in the river of Vantaanjoki some Goldeneyes

In the fields of Viikki we saw a Golden Plover among the thrushes, lapwing and starlings. There was also the Common Linnets and other birds what we have seen before like Eurasian Skylarks. On the shore we saw couple of the Common Ringed Plover and the Common Redshank and Teals. There were some Greylag Gooses among the Barnacle Gooses and Canada Gooses.

    1. Kiitos kommentista Vikki. On mahtavaa muuttolintujen aikaa!

  4. I can understand your dilemma , but if you didn't take your camera , you would have no nice photos to share with the world, LOL.
    Take care Gordom.

  12. Nice collection of birds. Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers are wonderful birds - only seem them twice. We have not a single woodpecker in Australia.
