A strange feeling when there is no insectivorous bird singing outside. This morning I heard a Willow warbler for the first time. A single Willow warbler. It has been such a cold spring that insectivores birds have not yet arrived.

Here are the photos I took at Suomenoja. Tässä kuvia Suomenojalta.

Kaksi koiras telkkää taistelivat keskenään ojassa. Naaras oli liikkumatta ojan reunassa.

Two male Goldeneye battles. The female was motionless at the edge of the ditch.

  1. Awesome! Punasotka is getting rarer and rarer...I saw it in Halikon lahti but only for a short time and from far.
    Have a nice weekend, Anu!

  3. Hello,
I am still learning the bird sounds in my yard. I have seen some of the migrant Warblers. I would love to see the Goldeneye and the Pochard. The Coots, Gulls and swans are all lovely images and sightings. The birds have a nice looking nest. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a happy weekend! PS, thank you for the visit and comment on my blog.

  4. Olet nähnyt nokikanan;-) En ole vielä nähnyt. Mieheni näki tänään pääskysiä! Miten ihmeessä ne jo on tulleet tänne pakkaseen. Ehkä linnut vaistoavat että lämmintä on tulossa.

  7. This cold spring seems to be everywhere, not just in England. I hope Anu that you too have a long, hot summer for the birds to make up lost time and for us to enjoy.

  11. Wonderful series of images, Anu. Perhaps the female Common Goldeneye was waiting to see which of the two battling males would be victorious so that she would accept the strongest father for her children. Spring here has been cool too, but we can always hope for better weather to come. Those of us who live in northern lands know how unpredictable the weather can be!

  12. where I live there are no insects either, it is bad :( Some spring birds arrived but did not stay. No food for them.
But the lovely Goldeneyes we have. And swans too. :)
