Täydellinen keli käydä katsomassa Vanhankaupunginkoskella
koskikaraa (Cinclus cinclus). Koskikara on yksi lemppari linnuistani.
Olen lukenut jostakin, että nämä täällä talvehtivat
koskikarat ovat norjalaisia.

At last, today
was a bright and sunny day. Little bit below zero. I went to see the
White-throated Dipper in Vanhankaupunginkoski. I’ve read somewhere that these
wintering White-throated Dippers are nesting in Norway. It is one of my
favorite bird.

VastaaPoistaHello Phil. Thank you for your comment. The Dippers are nesting mostly in northern Scandinavian. In northern Finland are nesting about 250 pairs of Dippers, but here in southern Finland are wintering about 5000 – 10 000 Dippers. So, here in southern Finland we can see Dippers only in winter.
PoistaAny sighting of a Dipper is a cause for rejoicing. I am always very happy to see one, especially since we don’t have them here, so when I travel and encounter them it is very special indeed.
