Kylmä kevät - Cold spring

 

Omituinen tunne, kun ulkona ei kuulu hyönteissyöjien laulua. Tänään aamulla kuulin ensimmäistä kertaa pajulinnun. Yhden ainoan pajulinnun. On ollut niin kylmä kevät, että hyönteissyöjät eivät ole vielä saapuneet. 

A strange feeling when there is no insectivorous bird singing outside. This morning I heard a Willow warbler for the first time. A single Willow warbler. It has been such a cold spring that insectivores birds have not yet arrived.

Lintujen pahin vihollinen - The worst enemy of birds...

Ikävä oli lukea uutisista, että jotkut olivat pelotelleet Viikin merikotkia dronella. Nyt on Helsingissäkin pakkanen. Merikotkilla on jo kuulemma munia. Kun hautova emokin pelotellaan dronella pois pesästä, munat kylmettyvät pakkasessa. Toisekseen, varikset käyvät nappaamassa merikotkien munat, jos ne jättävät pesän hetkeksikään. Merikotkien pahin vihollinen on ihminen.

Tämän postauksen kuvat otin maanantaina Vanhankaupunginkoskella ja Vanhankaupunginlahden suojelualueella. Keskelle suojelualuetta on tehty lapsille kiva leikkipaikka.

In the middle of the conservation area is a nice playgroud for childrens.

Katkenneessa oksassa kasvaa valkoinen, kiintoisan näköinen sieni.

In a broken branch grows a white, interesting-looking mushroom.

Valkoinen ei ole lunta. Se on kosken kuohujen vaahtoa. The white is not snow. It is a white-water foam.

I was sorry to read news that some had been intimidating the Helsinki White-tailed eagles with drone (I wrote about these eagles in my last post). The White-tailed eagles have already eggs. Now there is a frost in Helsinki. When the eagles are intimidated by a drone from the nest, the eggs will be destroyed in freezing temperature. Secondly, the Crows will take the eggs of eagles, if eagles leave the nest. The worst enemy of Eagles is man. Right now the eagles are back in their nest.

Helsingin merikotkat - Helsinki White-tailed Eagles

Sääennuste lupasi torstaille jopa aurinkoista. Lähdin siis Vanhankaupunginlahdelle katsomaan merikotkia (Haliaeetus albicilla)  ja isokoskeloita. Mutta, aurinko ei näyttäytynyt. Oli pilvistä ja räntäsateista.

Kyhmyjoutsenia. Mute Swans.

Vanhankaupunginlahdella on Klobben niminen saari, joka on ollut vuosia harmaahaikaroiden asuttama. Tänä vuonna merikotkapari otti yhden harmaahaikaroiden pesistä omikseen.

Klobben. Merikotkat pesässä äärimmäisenä oikealla. Island Klobben, The White-tailed eagles are in the nest on the right side.

Nämä merikotkat ovat kuuluisia, koska tiedotusvälineet kertoivat niiden muuttaneen keskelle Helsinkiä. Ihmiset käyvät päivittäin valokuvaamassa näitä merikotkia.

Jotkut lintuharrastajat sanovat, että nämä ovat nuoria merikotkia, eivätkä ne siten varsinaisesti pesisi tänä vuonna. Nyt ne vaan ikään kuin harjoittelevat pesimistä.

Varikset kävivät vähän väliä katsomassa kotkia hyvin läheltä. The Hooded Crows visited curiously near the eagles.

Lintuharrastajat ovat myös kertoneet, että todennäköisesti merikotkat ja harmaahaikarat kykenevät yhteiseloon saarella. Harmaahaikarat eivät ole vielä palanneet etelästä.

The weather forecast promised that thursday will be even sunny. So I went to the Vanhankaupunginlahti. Vanhankaupunginlahti is a part of European Union’s Natura 2000 program and it is a very important bird area. But, there were no sunny. It was cloudy and rainy.

The island of Klobben is in Vanhankaupunginlahti.  Klobben is an little island that has been inhabited by Grey Herons for many years. This year the White-tailed eagle couple moved to a one nest of Grey herons.

These White-tailed Eagles (Haliaeetus albicilla) are famous because the media told that they moved to the middle of Helsinki. People go daily to photograph these Eagles. Some birders say that these are young White-tailed Eagles and therefore they did not really nesting this year. Birders have also told that most likely these eagles and herons are capable of coexistence on the island. The Grey herons have not yet returned from the south.

Vihdoin hyönteissyöjät saapuivat!

Vihdoin viime perjantaista alkaen hyönteissyöjät saapuivat! Satakielet alkoivat eilen viritellä lauluaan. Useimmat kertut ja kerttuset jo laulavat. Joten kiirettä on pitänyt minullakin. Olin sekä lauantaiaamuna että tänäkin aamuna linturetkillä Viikissä ja hieman kotini ympäristössä.

Sinirinnan näkeminen tänään oli kiva yllätys. Valitettavasti en saanut siitä kunnon kuvaa.

It was a nice surprise to see the Bluethroat. It breeds in the far North. It is on the way to the North.

Katkenneen puun huipulta roikkkui tällainen pussi. Se muistuttaa pussitiaisen pesää, mutta se on omituisessa paikassa. En tiedä mikä se on. Kuvat saa isommaksi klikkaamalla hiirellä kuvaa.

The top of the broken tree was this kind of "bag". It resembles of the nest of the Eurasian Penduline Tit, but it is a strange place. I don't know what it is.

Finally, from last Friday, the birds arrived! The nightingales and Sylviidaes sing now! So, I have been busy! I was birding, as well as a Saturday morning that this morning, in the Nature reserve area of Viikki. There are photos I took this weekend.
