Tänään
aamulla Lammassaaren retkellä pajusirkut olivat äänessä.Kaunis, aurinkoinen aamu.
Harmaahaikaroita
on hauska katsella. Harmaahaikara seisoo liikkumattomana kaislikossa vedessä
odottaen, että kala ui sen vierestä. Ja, kun kala ui sen vierellä, se nappaa
kalan nokkaansa.
Tänään
aamulla yksi harmaahaikara nappasi melko ison kalan. Sillä oli vaikeuksia
niellä se kokonaisena.
Kala
oli pitkän tovin haikaran kurkussa ennen kuin se vajosi haikaran vatsaan.
Syötyään
ison kalan, haikara seisoi vielä muutaman minuuttia paikoillaan ja sitten se
lensi kuivalle maalle seisomaan. Kuvat saa isommiksi klikkaamalla hiirellä jotain kuvaa.
Today morning I was birding
in Lammassaari Nature reserve area. It was beautiful, sunny morning. Reed buntings were singing. Grey herons are
fun to watch. Grey herons are standing motionless in the water. They are
waiting that fish came near. And when fish is near, heron will grabs it. One Grey
heron caught a big fish. Heron had difficulties to swallow the fish. The fish
was a long time in Herons throat. After eating
the big fish, the Heron stood still for a few minutes in place.
Hello Anu, I love your pretty Reed Bunting and the Gray herons. Wonderful sightings and photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your day and weekend! Happy Easter! PS, thanks for commenting on my post.
VastaaPoistaHere we have Great Blue Heron and I saw one the other day with an injured leg. You wonder how long it can survive with that condition since it can no long stalk its prey, and with Bald Eagles around may become prey itself. Great series of pictures of its cousin, the Grey Heron.
VastaaPoistaHello David. Thank you for your comment. I think that a bird with one leg can’t survive a long time…
PoistaThe Great Blue Heron looks very much similar than Grey heron.
Enjoyed your post. I especially like that first shot. Beautiful!
VastaaPoistaEnjoy the lovely weather and have a peaceful Easter weekend!

Thank you all for your lovely comments!
VastaaPoistaThose herons can be fun to watch when they have a large fish. Sometimes I watch them struggle to eat, but they never give up, even if they have to juggle the fish around.
VastaaPoista...how wonderful that you were able to catch the heron having lunch!
VastaaPoistaThe Reed Bunting is handsome looking bird. I enjoy watching them here too.
VastaaPoistagorgeous series of the heron...it looks like lunch was delicious, but you would think he would have chocked!!!

That was a great series Anu! It was interesting watching the whole process as the heron ate his fish dinner. It was a lot of work for him! Thank you for sharing these .
VastaaPoistaHello all!
VastaaPoistaThank you so much for your comments.
Have a great week!
Great timing to be able to capture the Great Heron catching and swallowing the big fish. It will take a long time for the fish to be digested. Happy new week!

PoistaHi Anu, Great photos ... especially love the Heron. I'm in Washington State and over here we call them Great Blue Herons. They look exactly like your Gray Herons. Are they the same? Thank you for sharing your blog and thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving me a comment. Hope to see you again. Best regards from Seattle! John
VastaaPoistaHello John. Thank you so much for your comment.
PoistaGreat Blue Heron and Grey Heron are two different species, but they look so similar.
See you! Anu
