Lapakisto

Kävin torstaina Lapakiston luonnonsuojelualueella.

On Thursday, I visited the Lapakisto nature reserve area.

Alueella on viisi järveä/lampea ja kivasti risteileviä polkuja. Polkujen yhteispituus on 23 kilometriä. Järvien rannoilla on nuotiopaikkoja. (Alueen nettisivu: Lapakisto )

There are five lakes/ponds in the area and nice trails. The total length of the trails is 23 kilometers. There are campfire sites on the shores of the lakes.

Puissa oli runsaasti pikkulintuja. Erityisesti minua ilahdutti parvi puukiipijöitä. Valitettavasti en saanut otettua niistä valokuvia. Vesilintuja ei juuri näkynyt.

There were plenty of little birds in the trees. I was especially delighted by a flock of treecreeper. Unfortunately, I didn't get to take photos of them. There were hardly any anseriformes to be seen.

Järven rannalla koivussa on jokin valkoinen sieni tai mikä lie. Alla kuva koivusta ja sen alla lähikuva tuosta valkoisesta.

There is a white fungus or something in the birch by the lake. Below is a photo of the birch and below that a close-up of the white one.

  5. 23 Kilometeres of trails? I can only imagine that length of a trail. I have never hears of a flock of Treecreepers. They must be very common there in your part of the world.

  10. These pictures might have been taken right here in Ontario, the similarity of landscape is so similar. I think the fungus in the birch is Birch Polypore - but I am far from expert in mycology! I have travelled the world a great deal and the more I am exposed to Finland and Finnish bloggers I regret that I never visited. Northern people are the best!

    1. Thank you David for the comment. I did an image search on Google and the fungus does indeed look like a Birch Polypore. And thanks for the nice words.
