The Slavonian Grebe (Podiceps auritus) is an endangered species worldwide. There are about 11,000 pairs of Slavonian Grebe in Europe. About 4,000 pairs of them nest in Finland.
I photographed these Slavonian Grebes at Suomenoja on 28.4.

Nice shots of what we call Horned grebe. I have seen 4 pairs in a pond lately, so I hope for breedind. But that have failed the past two years so my hope for chicks is not high. :(
