Nuoria lintuja - Young birds
Noin kilometrin päässä kotoani on hulevesiallas. Se on siis matala keinotekoinen lampi. Siinä ei ole pesinyt vesilintuja – vakituisia sinisorsia lukuunottamatta.
There is a stormwater basin about a kilometer from my home. So it is a shallow artificial pond. No waterfowl have nested in it - apart from the regular mallards.
Pari viikkoa sitten lammelle oli tullut kaksi nuorta lintua. Nuorten lintujen tunnistaminen on usein vaikeaa. Toinen on nuori telkkä. Toista en ole tunnistanut.
A couple of weeks ago, two young birds had come to the pond. Identifying young birds is often difficult. The other is a young Goldeneye. I haven't identified the other one.

Lapakisto
Kävin torstaina Lapakiston luonnonsuojelualueella.
On Thursday, I visited the Lapakisto nature reserve area.
Alueella
on viisi järveä/lampea ja kivasti risteileviä polkuja. Polkujen
yhteispituus on 23 kilometriä. Järvien rannoilla on nuotiopaikkoja.

There are five lakes/ponds in the area and nice trails. The total length of the trails is 23 kilometers. There are campfire sites on the shores of the lakes.
Puissa oli runsaasti pikkulintuja. Erityisesti minua ilahdutti parvi puukiipijöitä. Valitettavasti en saanut otettua niistä valokuvia. Vesilintuja ei juuri näkynyt.
There were plenty of little birds in the trees. I was especially delighted by a flock of treecreeper. Unfortunately, I didn't get to take photos of them. There were hardly any anseriformes to be seen.

There is a white fungus or something in the birch by the lake. Below is a photo of the birch and below that a close-up of the white one.

Myllysaari aamulla - Myllysaari in the morning
Tiistai aamuna kävin kävelyllä Myllysaaressa (Lahti), joka on pieni saari Vesijärvellä.
On Tuesday morning I went for a walk in Myllysaari (Lahti), which is a small island in Lake Vesijärvi.

Tänä kesänä västäräkkejä on joka paikassa paljon. Pesinnät ovat näköjään onnistuneet poikkeuksellisen hyvin. Myllysaaressakin västäräkkejä oli runsaasti. En kylläkään valokuvannut niitä.
This summer, there are a lot of White wagtails everywhere. The nestings seem to have been exceptionally successful. Even in island Myllysaari, there were plenty of White wagtails. I didn't photograph them.

Malla ja kottaraiset / Malla and the starlings
En muista olenko kertonut, että koirani Malla sokeutui. Se sopeutui erinomaisesti elämään ilman näkökykyä. Ihmiset eivät edes huomaa, että se on sokea. Malla nauttii elämästä ja on iloinen koira.
I don't remember if I told you that my dog Malla went blind. She adapted perfectly to life without sight. People don't even notice it's blind. Malla enjoys life and is a happy dog.
